Lyric-Baritone Nathan Myers voice has been acclaimed by the Tulsa World, one that
is “rich and clear with enough power to rise up through the orchestral
accompaniment”. This young baritone is a “feisty stage presence and a bright,
well-focused baritone” remarks The Dallas Morning News of his recent portrayal of
Dr. Malatesta in Don Pasquale. While Nathan Myers has caught the attention of
many with his vocal prowess, he is also a very dedicated actor. The
Chautauquan Daily heralds, “Nathan Myers, in the role of Valentin, was clearly a
favorite. His voice possesses strength, beauty and clarity. Myers’ acting was
electrifying.” The season of 2007-2008 will welcome Mr. Myers in his debut season as a Resident Young Artist with The Deutsche Oper Berlin, Germany; where he will be seen in various roles including The King’s Herald in Lohengrin, Marullo in Rigoletto, Marquis d'Obigny in La Traviata., Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro and many others. Mr. Myers spent the 2006-2007 season as an inaugural member of The Dallas Opera Young Artist Program where he debuted in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. The Dallas Morning News noted him for being “a spunky, vocally appealing Fiorello”. He was also a featured soloist with the Minnesota Orchestra in a performance of selections from a collection of spirituals commissioned by the Albany Symphony specifically for his voice and orchestra, David Alan Miller, conductor. Mr. Myers holds degrees from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mannes College of Music, while also being a recipient of the Richard Gold Career Grant. He has worked with many opera companies/orchestras including The Des Moines Metro Opera, Central City Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Albany Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony/Turtle Creek Chorale, Pittsburgh Symphony, Tulsa Opera, Tulsa Philharmonic, Oregon Lyric Opera, St. Louis Bach Society, Minnesota Orchestra, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, Chautauqua Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Central City Opera, Denver Symphony, Dallas Opera, and Lyric Opera of Chicago. Mr. Myers operatic role portrayals include Gregorio (Romeo & Juliet), Valentin (Faust), and Marcello (La Boheme), Papageno (The Magic Flute), The King’s Herald (Lohengrin), Fiorello (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) Elder McLean (Susannah), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), El Dancairo (Carmen), Pooh-Bah (Mikado), Dandini (La Cenerentola) Career highlights include Soloist in the Television Broadcast of “The King Concert” with The Black Academy of Arts and Letters, Featured Soloist the 30th Anniversary Season Opening Gala (The Black Academy of Arts and Letters) Guests included Harolyn Blackwell, Della Reese, Kim Fields, Oleta Adams, Morris Robinson. Also, Mr. Myers has performed the role of The Subway Opera Singer in the Movie EVERYDAY PEOPLE, and can be heard on the soundtrack of the Movie, KINGDOM COME many others. Mr. Myers currently studies with Peter and Linda Strummer and is represented by Avid Williams of Avava Artists Management. |
